From dieline to shelf.

I trained in graphic design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, then spent 2011 to 2024 in brand, product and design roles in Taipei. This chapter follows my packaging and print work from the flat dieline to the store shelf.

Packaging construction

Smart Badge is LEXFUN’s lanyard card holder. I drew its hang-tab sleeve, with a clear window so you can see the product, from the front, back and side, along with the dieline and five colour variants. Before anything was printed, we chose the materials and print finishes and built handmade prototypes to test how the box folds together and how it opens.

Production cartons

Some jobs started with someone else’s product. One of our vendors had products that weren’t in production yet, and we rebranded them from the ground up: names, packaging, marketing materials, user manual and website. This board shows the carton side of that work: flat dielines marked with their dimensions, next to 3D renders of the finished XBLADE, TRIO and Air Hub boxes and their banners.

Brand in print

The box is only one place a brand shows up. For LEXFUN I also designed print graphics for the brand’s physical pieces, so they all looked like one family. This collage shows a few: a banner with the logo and social QR codes, an ad for a cable with a woven jacket made from recycled coffee grounds, Smart Badge visuals, the Power Sling adaptor pack and a bookstore shelf display.

Product rendering

For this skincare line I made high-fidelity 2D renderings, realistic enough to judge before a single sample existed. We studied the surface of each material, from the cream jar to the bottles, tubes and sheet-mask sachets, and recreated it on screen under different lighting and settings. That gave the team a clear picture to check the physical samples against.
